About the Role

The Process Engineer plays a critical role in developing and maintaining stable, repeatable manufacturing processes at Quantum AEP.

This position focuses on extrusion process optimization, troubleshooting, process documentation, and implementation of advanced manufacturing practices using Industry 4.0 technologies and AI-driven process analysis.

The role requires a hands-on engineering mindset with strong technical problem-solving abilities and a focus on process consistency, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize extrusion, annealing, and material handling processes
  • Analyze process data and identify opportunities to improve consistency, throughput, and product quality
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to temperature control, pressure stability, dimensional variation, surface quality, and material behavior
  • Work closely with operators and production teams to maintain stable process parameters and standardized operating conditions
  • Support development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment upgrades
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production deviations and quality concerns
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, operating procedures, and production records
  • Support implementation of Industry 4.0 systems, process monitoring tools, and AI-driven manufacturing improvements
  • Coordinate with maintenance and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and process control
  • Ensure safety, discipline, housekeeping, and operational standards are maintained on the shop floor

What we're looking for

Core competencies required for this position

Must have

  • Advanced Degree in Polymer Engineering
  • Experience in plastics extrusion, polymer processing, compounding, or high-performance materials manufacturing
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial production environments
  • Hands-on mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a disciplined, process-driven manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with extrusion parameters, thermal processing, and process troubleshooting
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 systems, production data analysis, or AI-assisted manufacturing tools
  • Experience working with engineering plastics such as PEEK, PPS, PEI, PVDF, or acetal
  • Exposure to process optimization, DOE, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing data systems
